There's something vaguely disturbing about this, but I think I like it. In fact, I'd like more. How on earth is it done, I wonder?

I don't know, Heb. The poem itself is kind of creepy. Chesterton's horror at suicide was pretty firmly established (he wrote of it in Orthodoxy, so you can't quite say he was being tongue-in-cheek. Yet it does have a certain black comedy about it.
